What tells us a picture? Thousands of things. Photographs, also words, Édouard Spriet has discovered dozens from his mother’s youth travels to the United States, long before his birth. When she reached 41 years old, he arrives in his life to write his own. What happened before? Who was she before being his mother? What’s behind the visible reality of these pictures?
He chose the limit of a specific period, the one when we are 20 years old, free of everything, but mostly, moments of travel. These moments when you forget the daily to really live intensely, between escape and evasion. So to be able to give an echo, he leaves with names, addresses on her footsteps in California, where she was 40 years earlier. She had completed a two-months, 6,000-kilometers journey across the United-States here in Los Angeles. The places have changed, people too, Édouard goes to look for them to reconstruct the memories of others by creating his own, from encounter to discovery, he draw portraits; Indelible portraits in a given space time.
